Science Camp Day three:
We did it....finished up those catapults and had a couple of great competitions...including a very close distance throw and an "Ants in the Pants" accuracy game. We jumped on tie-dyes immediately after taking break and doing our hexane slide demo. Then after taking lunch and watching our 3rd 24-minute segment of Despicable Me, we closed out the day with making slime and a "crash the can" demo that all the campers want to try themselves tomorrow. View over 80 pics that take you through our day below.
Day four and our final day of the week is tomorrow. After we get those tie-dyes rinsed and handing out to dry (they are outside setting overnight), we have much to do. We will certainly have an active day trying to tackle it all...including paddle boats, red cabbage pH lab, magic sand, pepper and soap, electromagnet challenge, 12-nail challenge, milk and food coloring, etc.
Get a good sleep tonight. It has been a wonderful week. Lots of fantastic sharing and team work. Lets finish strong.

Science Camp Day Two:
Despite the heat we were able to work through a significant number of activities today. We limited our outside stuff to rocket stomp competitions and lunch time. All the other experiments and challenges were able to done inside our nicely cooled building. Please view over 90 pics of many of the things we did today. These will sort of take you through a timeline of our day.
Big thank you to Mr. Dukeman again today for covering for me, I was able to be here for the start, but having dilated pupils made the trip outside for stomp rocket testing a bit tough in all that bright sunshine. The campers really seem to respond to all the energy, humor, and enthusiasm that he brought to the camp with him yesterday and today.
Tomorrow is another very big day....as we start our tie-dye shirts, finish up our catapults, tackle the paddle boat construction and much more.
Looks like things are going to cool off a tad tomorrow...so that should be a good thing for paddle boat trials and races.
Again, get a good night of sleep and we will see you in the morning. All tie dye shirts are here in stock by size so there is nothing you have to bring in for that.
Thank you.

Science Camp Day One:
We had an incredible start to the week. Let me first say that all of our campers this week are wonderfully inquisitive and willing to jump into everything we do with 2 feet. Lots of great sharing and team work going on. Today we made team posters, and took on some cool challenges....like tallest towers, ice to string sticking experiment, dancing man cups, and of course our rubbing alcohol demo and Despicable Me 2O-minute segment. On our website (below) you can view over 50 pics of some of our activities.
We have any busy day on tap tomorrow....including stomp rockets, self-designed stomp rockets, and magnetic coin challenge.
Doctors discovered a tear in my left retina and I have what hopefully will be a quick laser surgery in the early morning. If I am not in by :30 check in Mr. Dukeman will once again cover for me. He did a great job with the campers today. After working will students for more than fifteen years he has gotten very good at it.
I would also like to give a big shout out to our school nurse, Margaret Baker. She is awesome. She even made us our own camp medical kit. Ms. Baker makes her rounds up to the camp a bunch of times during the day just to check on us to see how everything is going. She will be here each morning to check you in and you can bring your check off lists directly to her in the morning.
Get a good sleep tonight. And we will see everyone tomorrow. Thanks for a great first day.
