Thanks for a phenomenal week campers!
We ended with one of the most crazy, active days of the week today. We started by finishing up our color wheels and then quickly jumped into the bottle flip challenge. Next we learned about the difference between high and low pressure weather systems and made our own homemade clouds in a bottle. After that, we jumped into a project where we had to make self designed sea urchins, stars, or viruses...depending on your choice. We then took on the challenge of trying to cut a hole in a 3 x 5 note card that we could step through. With a little trail and error and peer tutoring most of us were able to figure it out. After break, we warmed back up with 100 piece puzzle races and then jumped into our "boink" spring ten bucket challenge. We had time to squeeze in the balloon toss game before lunch and then finished up our movie of the week to give our lunch time to digest. After coming out of the movie we jumped right into the Carnival Ride STEM challenge. The designs were fantastic, as was the teamwork that went into them. Congratulations to our youngest camp group for taking first place in this challenge. We wrapped up the week with a discussion on force....which led to some campers laying on a real bed of nails.
Check out below for more than 250 pics of all these activities today.
Hope to see you all back again next summer. Until that time..stay active, stay inquisitive, and never lose the enthusiasm that you brought to camp all this week.

Panther Science Camp Day Three:
Over 260 pictures from camp today detail all of the challenges, labs, competitions, races, and creations we worked on. Highlights today were Bernolli's Principle demos, dancing man cups, Oreo cookie moon phases, color wheels, and sun print photography pictures.
Tomorrow we have a ton to do including spaghetti towers, bed of nails, penny parachutes, perpetual energy discs, refrigerator magnets, boink bands, balloon toss, polarity experiments with water, etc. etc. So get a great sleep and come to camp ready to go!
We will see you all nice and early in the morning tomorrow for our wrap up day.
Parents: We rinsed out the tie-dye shirts at least 4 times today, but it might be best to wash them alone one more time at home just to be sure they don’t run any loose dye on your other clothes.

Panther Science Camp Day Two:
Day two was busy, electrifying, and action packed. The entire day was non-stop demos, challenges, and activities.....see over 200 pics below guiding you through the day and showing you what we did. Walk through some of them with your camper and ask them all about what is happening and what the challenge was for each event....hopefully they will have lots to say.
Looks like we are going a great day of sunshine tomorrow without a lot of high heat or humidity. A fantastic day for some of our outdoor favorites. Be sure to block up in the morning and be ready to be out in the sunshine ( We will have plenty of extra on hand if you forget).
Highlights tomorrow include....developing film and making our own pictures with the sun with real photography paper, making color wheels, Bernolli Principle bags and the toilet paper roll spin off challenge. We will also rinse and dry our tie-dye camp shirts and take an awesome camp picture by the end of the day.

Campers,
A great first day with a ton of high energy and activity!!!
A big thank you to Ms. Doc, Ari, Braden, Sky, and Dorothy for all their help counseling today.
We could not ask for a better group of young scientists....very inquisitive and not afraid to make mistakes to finally arrive at the best results.
Below please see over 200 pictures of all the things we did today!
Some of the STEM related challenges today (penny launchers, 12-nail challenge, skittle color plates) really test your group's ability to get along with one another and use all the brain power you can muster. Good listening, team work, and idea generation are essential skills as well as the willingness to undergo the process of trial and error! First designs don't always work, in fact more often than not they fail. The trick is not quitting and being resilient enough to roll those sleeves up and go back to the drawing board.
We look forward to another active day tomorrow. Get a good sleep tonight. Highlights tomorrow include phases 1, 2 and 3 of tie dye shirt making as well as Borax geodes, moon phases with Oreos, and chemical penny cleaning.
