Wow....what an incredible day today. Took a nice field trip around the front of the school to gather some acorns to make our blow pipes. On the trip, we were fortunate enough to be able to view the Black Hawk helicopter that was landing at the DARE camp on the athletic fields. Pretty cool! We met with success and were able to gather suitable acorns but unluckily ran into a yellow jacket nest along the way. After a couple of stings we managed to make our way back into the school to review instructions on how to make the blow pipes. From the picture you can see that we were fairly successful at this.
After taking a short break, we warmed back up with a word search race and then proceeded to jump right into our tie-dye shirt project. After sizes were allotted, campers entitled them and got signatures from friends both new and old. This took as to lunch time....and once we were well fed (thank you Joey for the popsicles...big hit) and watch our daily dose of Ralph Breaks the Internet, we completed the fourth and final phase of tie-dye shirt making by diffusing color designs with rubbing alcohol. Tomorrow we will be sure to take an all-camp picture with everyone dawning their shirts with great pride.
Post tie-dye we raced on to the 12-nail challenge, then set out our transpiration bags and concluded with a competitive balloon toss event.
All and all a fantastic, active and fun day. Makes us sad to know that tomorrow is the last day of camp this week.
Please get a great sleep for the action will continue as we work to maximize our activities as we wind down for the week.
Enjoy over 250 pics from the day. Hope you have as much fun viewing them as we had making them.

Panther Science Camp Day Two:
Today was simply awesome….we did not let the rain dampen our spirits at all….on the contrary we rose to the occasion.
We were able to get through a ton of activities and get some good learning and trial-error skills practice in.
Cannot say enough about this wonderful mix of campers…..they are intelligent, motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic. They truly do meet each challenge we throw at them with intensity and vigor.
Please enjoy over 270 pics that are now posted on our website from today….they serve as a great walk through of many of the things we were able to tackle today.
Get a good sleep tonight….we have got our work cut out for us tomorrow…highlights on the list include tie-dye shirts, stomp rockets, the 12-nail challenge, Egg Race cars, bottle tornadoes and a bunch more.
See you in the morning!

Panther Science Camp Day One:
We had a great day today with a wonderful group of campers. Lots of high energy and team work was exhibited by the group.
Pictures below will chronologically walk you through many of the items we were able to tackle today. As predicted, we did not get everything on the agenda done, but we will slide what we missed over to tomorrow and continue where we left off.
Big thanks to Dorothy and Coach Santos for all their help today. Without their dedicate service and assistance this camp would not be possible.
If you have the time, flip through some of the over 150 pics with your child and talk about many of the activities we worked on today.
To begin each day, we always talk about the importance of safety in the science lab and how imperative it is NOT to try any of the things we do at camp alone and without adult supervision. Please remind your camper of this when you scan through the pictures.
Please be sure to get a great sleep tonight....we go right back to work tomorrow with a very active day. Highlights include: Lego race cars, lava lamps, The Astronaut Challenge, stomp rockets, transpiration bags...and several science related demonstrations.
See you in the morning.
