What an INCREDIBLE day and week. What a totally awesome bunch of campers....no more to say.....we'll let the pictures do the talking!
Thank you Mr. Mo, Yulissa, Vinny 1 and Vinny 2 for all your counseling!

Day 3:
Sorry for the late posting....but due to technical issues we have worked for more than 8 hours to get these pics up and online tonight. Hopefully you can all see the updates in the morning before you come to camp for the last day on Thursday.
We had and incredible day today....we uploaded two free apps....QR reader, which allowed campers to scan a barcode with their iphones and ipads and retrieve an online video on how to make the "Invader" paper airplane. Campers did a great job in in following he directions on how to make the planes. Once the planes were built they were tested and signed off on by our inspectors.....Moriarty, Vinny, and Yulissa. Groups were then rotated out to the open air outside and allowed to use the second app called "power up 3.0" which enabled the campers to fly their homemade planes via bluetooth technology with their phones and ipads. Flights were surprisingly successful in some cases and marginally successful in others....but guess what...that is how it goes...and I am willing to bet that with a second and third day of flight practice we would get better and better.
See many other pictures of the thing we did today. Again...sorry for the late posting...technology threw us a curve ball tonight, but we finally overcame! Enjoy!

Day 2:
Despite the weather we were able to stay quite active and even got outside a bunch today. We started off with a neat little experiment with frozen bottles. By putting water on the tops of the bottles and then capping them with a quarter we got the quarters to jump and click time after time. Pretty cool to see the wonders of science, expanding air and water adhesion. After a short break down in room 205, we talked about evolution and how certain animals have developed blubber around their bodies to protect them from their cold environments. In the pictures below you can see lots of hands in ice water buckets. Without protection the water is very very cold, but with a blubber bag surrounding skin, our hands felt very warm while submerged under ice. We then recycled the oil that we used to simulate blubber and recycled it to create lava lamps which you can see in many of the pictures below glowing in bright colors. We had no time to waste as today we played catch up from Monday and had to make our replica lungs. These were a bit tricky to master but nearly everyone in the room was able to get them to work. Before we took lunch we got really active with our microchip embedded basketballs that feed information to our iPods and iPads via bluetooth technology. We did this to show how bluetooth technology works and to illustrate the many uses of it in our society today. We actually held a speed dribbling competition. In the pictures you can see the iPads electronically tracking the number of dribbles each camper made in 20 seconds. It was very cool and the campers got a big kick out of this technology. After lunch we viewed our 2nd 25 minute segment of Rise of the Guardians and then we flew back to the room and began our long awaited iPad train bridge design competition. Allthough we were not able to drive the expense of our bridges down below 100,000 dollars, we got very close. The winner design got it very close, 128,000...not bad for our rookie engineers! Tomorrow we have another extremely busy day on tap, as we work to complete 3 phases of making our tie-day shirts and begin our paper airplane drones. Please remember to bring in iPhones and iPads again for these planes.
See you in the morning. Come ready to work, laugh and explore!

Science Camp Day 1:
See pictures recapping the day below.
A very active day today, although the solar cars had to be put on hold due to the lack of sunshine in the morning. We still managed to make our film canister rockets (winning group shot one 26 feet), compete in puzzle races, perform a neat color mixing experiment and watch what happens when a 20 gallon bag of water is thrown from a third story window. The campers voted to view Rise of the Guardians as the "movie of the week' and began by watching a 20 minute installment of the film after lunch. Trivia for cricket pops was a big hit....although some opted out for gum prizes instead (not sure why...haha)
Much more action on tap for tomorrow including solar cars, tie-dye phase one, iPad bridges (YES....bring iPads in again), and 2 Liter bottle rockets. Sunshine is on tap so be sure to bring sunblock and fluids.
